Iraqis love Iranian actors: Iraqi MP

Iraqi MP Majed Ghammas has said Iraqis love actors in some historical Iranian series.

Talking to Iranian media on the sidelines of the 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIff), he said Iraqi people love Iranian actors and they would be warmly welcomed if they go to Iraq.

Noting the broadcasting of Iranian series in Iraq, he added that Iraqi audience are interested in Iranian films and series.

Some of the most favorable Iranian series in Iraq are 'Mokhtarnameh' (The Rise of Mokhtar) directed by Davoud Mirbaqeri and 'Prophet Joseph' directed by Farajollah Salahshour, Ghammas said.

When the series were being aired in Iraq, people reflected on them and they like to see the Iranian stars in Iraq, he went on.

The MP also noted that historical and technical matters, as well as directing and acting have made Iraqi people to like the series such as 'Imam Ali (AS)'; as they revolve around joint historical stories which are attractive for the Iraqis too.

Established in 1982, the FIff celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

Directed by Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th FIff was held on April 19-27, 2018, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
